It was founded in 1936 as the Dow Male Chorus with membership from the men of the Dow Chemical Company. In 1961, Dow discontinued its Music Department and the Chorus became the Men of Music and along with the rest of the Dow Music Department formed The Music Society under director Ted Vosburgh. Since then there were several women directors who continued to lead the Chorus. The Men of Music continues today providing excellant men's four part harmony with our present very talented director, Grace Marra, who joined the Chorus in 1994. We also appreciate the talents of Laurie Habedank who serves as our accompanist. less

PG Carnivalesque" under the patronage of Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk Tech, attracted several hundred people who listened to daring performances of popular pop music hits. During the performance we heard choral arrangements of hits such as: "Dancing Queen", "Memory", "California Dreamin'" and "Maria". This time it was not Mozart or Bach, but ABBA, Queen and songs from the musical West Side Story that graced the walls of the Gdansk University of Technology in carnivalesque musical artistic creations.
Jazz musicians performed along with the choir, and the musical effects were accompanied by a unique lighting arrangement, which required appropriate space and audience arrangement.
The more-than-hour-long performance by the Academic Choir of the Gdańsk University of Technology, conducted by Prof. Mariusz Mróz and accompanied by musicians from the Music Academy in Bydgoszcz, ended with joint singing, encores and a standing ovation. less

Since the beginning, Rev. Lee Chong Min – a reverend as well as a professor of the School of Church Music, Singapore Bible College – has been appointed to be the choir master of the Chamber Choir. In 1997, the choir name was changed to Jakarta Festival Chorus in order to reach out more participants from evangelical churches in Jakarta.
Jakarta Festival Chorus is currently under the Music Department of the Communion of Chinese Churches in Indonesia (PGTI). The members now are choristers and sacred music lovers from different churches in Jakarta. For these past ten years, JFC has dedicated itself to regularly perform some great classical works from the famous composers, such as, The Messiah – Handel (2000), The Creation – Haydn (2003), Elijah – F. Mendelssohn (2004), Psalm 95 & Hymn of Prai... less

The Lea Singers' latest CD -- 'Jubilea' -- features almost exclusively English music (with the exception of the final item -- the 'Ave maris stella' from the Monteverdi Vespers); and the English music represented ranges from sacred and secular favourites -- Howells' 'Like as the hart' and Sullivan's 'The long day closes' -- to works commissioned from contemporary composers (Judith Bingham's 1997 work 'Gleams of a remoter world' and a setting of the Nunc Dimittis, written in 2010 by one of the choir's own basses, John Pickard). The CD is expertly conducted by the choir's musical director, James Sherlock and guest instrumentalists are 17-year old Edward Picton-Turbevill on the organ and award-winning young cellist James Barralet playing the solo part in Sir John Tavener's 'Svyati' for cello and choir. The vocal blend throughout is first-rate and the choral sound is refined. There are a number of vocal solos on offer in many of the pieces and all are performed with aplomb -- I parti... less
