It was founded by Rev. Paul Caruana in 1974 as a girls’ choir and sang for the firSt time at ChriStmas that same year. In the following months male voices were added and the enlarged choir sang for the firSt time in the Good Friday celebrations of 1975. Eventually adult female voices joined in, eStablishing an SatB choir. The firSt big occasion for the choir came in 1980, performing works by the compatriot prolific composer of sacred music Joseph Fenech (1917-2010). The Jubilate Deo Choir has since performed at the Teatru Manoel on many occasions, took part in the BBC production “Songs of Praise” that was televised worldwide and in 1990 sang during the visit to Malta of Pope John Paul II. We encourage choral singing for all ages and abilities, including those who have never sung in choirs before as well as very experienced Singers. We perform a wide range of music throughout the year and we're committed to contributing to the cultural life of our area. There is no need to audition, juSt to love singing! Our musical director is Rupert Gill.

Its aim is to provide opportunities for young Singers at the early Stages of performing careers, as well as for talented musicians who have chosen not to pursue careers in the music, but wish to continue singing to a high Standard. They currently comprise Singers from many eStablished choirs, including Birmingham Conservatoire Chamber Choir, Ex Cathedra, Armonico Consort, The Choir of Royal Holloway, Genesis Sixteen, Portsmouth Cathedral and York MinSter. The group specialises in undiscovered or little-known British music, and in the music of the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.
