The choir’s repertoire imaginatively balances unaccompanied choral music from the Renaissance period with 19th - 21st century works. Although relatively small in number, the choir is accomplished in singing music in both double and triple choir form. Particular specialisms include the works of William Byrd, Thomas Tallis and Tómas Luis da Victoria. The choir has performed in many prestigious venues in Europe, including Notre-Dame in Paris, Chartres cathedral and Versailles. Events such as the Prague Spring International Festival (Czech Republic) have also featured the choir. In 2006, in Budapest, the choir performed Tallis’s towering 40-part motet Spem in Alium, with the internationally renowned Budapest Monteverdi Choir. In 2008 the choir enjoyed a trip to the Lisbon region and sang in some truly fantastic venues, including Mosteiro dos Jerónimos.  less

Since then, we have not only grown in numbers but also in confidence and have showcased our talents at several Concerts and other public performances. We have an eclectic repertoire, singing a large variety of material, including classical, pop and show songs. The Choir is comprised of all ages, skills, interests & talents. We are open to all adults in the local and wider community. Some of our members are talented singers and musicians, although you don't have to be able to read music to join - some members had never sung outside the shower until they joined.  less

It is made up of boys, girls, women and men from all walks of life and with many levels of musical expertise and experience, who give of their time and talent on an entirely voluntary basis to sing to a professional standard. Membership of the choir currently stands at around thirty-five adults and sixteen to twenty children. The choir’s principal function is to provide the music and help lead the worship at the Cathedral’s two main services every Sunday: Sung Eucharist at 10.30 am and Choral Evensong at 6.30 pm. Services are preceded by a rehearsal, and there is a rehearsal once a week, currently on Thursday evenings. In addition to these important duties, the choir also sings for regular special services, occasional concerts, broadcasts regularly on BBC Radio, has appeared on TV, and every year they sing in one of the great British Cathedrals for a weekend, or sometimes a week. We come together as one mega choir for concerts and other performances at events. Our aim is to build community through gospel music and so we emphasise the fact that we are a choir for anyone to join, no auditions and nor previous experience is required. If you love to sing...we're the choir for you!

Musically, individual members can boast… singing in St Mark’s, Venice; the Duomo, Florence; the Salzburg Festival; performing a vocal recital on a stairlift; recording jingles for local radio and being the first girl chorister to sing for a service in St Paul’s Cathedral, London.  less

Although we are a Welsh male voice choir, we are able to perform music in English; French; German; Latin and even the Zulu Xhosa dialect.  

The aim of our choir is to sing together, meet new people and have fun! No one has to sing by themselves and there is no audition to join. The cost is £2 per week and there is no membership fee. Drinks and biscuits are provided.  

Salvacosta was formed in June 2000 and functioned for 16 years raising over £55,000 for various charities. In 2017 a new smaller ensemble evolved from Salvacosta in the form of Muzaria www.muzaria.com focusing on Stage & Screen music.

Founded in September 2000 by a group of friends from the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, the choir comprises mainly of recent graduates and current students of Durham University, but also welcomes singers from all over the North East, and includes ...  moreFounded in September 2000 by a group of friends from the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, the choir comprises mainly of recent graduates and current students of Durham University, but also welcomes singers from all over the North East, and includes many of the region’s teachers. In May, the choir travelled to Italy to take part in the “Venezia in Musica” International Choral Competition. They won first prize in the secular music category, came runners up in the sacred music category, and received the “Outstanding Performance” prize for Bogorditsye Dyevo by Rachmaninov. They have been awarded “Choir of the Day” at all five BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year regional rounds they have entered, and in 2008 reached the adult category finals in the Royal Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool, alongside the six other best adult choirs in the country.
