Psalms 39:24 The year started with bright hope for a promising great year, yet the treat of a deadly virus lingered in our ears. In February, COVID caused some concern in America as people were being warned of the implications the virus could bring when it came from overseas. By March, our government told us we needed to stay home as the virus was deadly to all age groups and almost impossible to avoid. Most necessities, like toilet paper and cleaning products, were gone from the shelves of all stores making people worry how fighting this treat would be possible. Throughout the country, several people offered to help neighbors, friends, and family as they self-quarantined and socially distanced from each, as we were told it was our best defense against the upcoming pandemic. During quarantine, some people started riots for an unrelated cause, Black Lives Matter. This movement has an ongoing struggle in our nation as the group battles f...    None';">less

The quotation most aptly describes the repertoire on the Norwegian chamber choir Schola Cantorum's recording of Hymns to Mary, the Mother of God, in which tranquillity, eternity and 'bursting forth into sound' are encountered in many different guises. The composers represented here have often chosen to allow their music to evolve in stable structures and remain within static harmonic spaces even when the music becomes expressive and dramatic: Benjamin Britten, Francis Poulenc, Maurice Duruflé, Eric Whitacre, Morten Lauridsen, Martin Ødegaard, Kjell Mørk Karlsen, Anton Bruckner, Sergei RachmaniNoff, Arvo Pärt, Ola Gjeilo, Andrew Smith and Trond KverNo. https://shop.klicktrack.com/2l/420085/ Throughout its existence the chamber choir Schola Cantorum has had high ambitions. The choir has built up an international reputation and has made it a trademark to include newly wri...    None';">less

"Shenandoah - the lush a cappella harmonies towards the end had me hitting the repeat button again and again, if only to wallow in the glorious antithetical glissandos in the last measure. I loved that! " Barbara Allen - Pasadena, California USA Lyrics ’Mid all the traffic of the ways, Turmoils without, within, Make in my heart a quiet place, And come and dwell therein. A little shrine of quietness, All sacred to Thyself, Where Thou shalt all my soul possess, And I may find myself. A little place of mystic grace, Of self and sin swept bare, Where I may look into thy face, And talk with Thee in prayer.
