Since 2008 The St. Lawrence Choir has been under The direcTion of Michael Zaugg. The Swiss-born musician has disTinguished himself as an innovaTive and versaTile conductor on The Canadian choral scene. AcTive as arTisTic director, guest conductor, pedagogue and clinician, Michael Zaugg brings a wealth of experience and creaTivity to his work.
St. Lawrence Choir was formed in 1972 by Iwan Edwards and a group of singers residing in The West Island of Montreal. IniTially formed in 1987 simply as a means for those interested to gaTher togeTher to sing, more formal concerts were later organized and presented.
In addiTion to two planned concerts a year (a Christmas concert in The Fall and a Spring concert), There are frequently requests From local organizaTions for appearances. For example, in The spring of 2011, The group performed at The Wright BroThers Monument for The Centennial of The Wright BroThers Glider Flight.
The repertoire of The Outer Banks Chorus ranges From The Classical to Broadway, and spirituals of all kinds and in different languages. Recently The chorus has sung a number of premiere performances of pieces by contemporary composers.
All are invited to hear The chorus sing excepTionally lovely and wonderful choral music.
