In the World choir Championships which was held in Graz, Austria between 10th-17th July 2011, Boğaziçi Jazz choir became the 'WORLD CHAMPION' in Contemporary Music and Folklore categories, and got the 'second prize' in Mixed choirs category. Also winning ...  moreIn the World choir Championships which was held in Graz, Austria between 10th-17th July 2011, Boğaziçi Jazz choir became the 'WORLD CHAMPION' in Contemporary Music and Folklore categories, and got the 'second prize' in Mixed choirs category. Also winning 2 more gold medals in 'Grand Prix of Choral Music' the champions competed in, the choir has come back to Turkey with a total of 5 gold medals. We would like to give special thanks to our main sponsor Finansbank, transportation sponsor Pegasus Airlines and everyone who has supported and given us the opportunity to take great pride in this success. Alongside classical Music sung in Latin, Italian and French, its repertoire highlights the Music of Jewish liturgical and folk traditions in a variety of styles and arrangements as well as Music from around the world. Songs in Hebrew, Yemenite, Yiddish , Ladino, English and Arabic bring to life the different backgrounds of the Ensemble's members.

Bishop Road Community choir is open to all in the local community. We are a mixed, non-audition choir. All songs are taught by ear and we don’t expect anyone to learn the words off by heart. However, Music can be made available for those who want it. W...  moreBishop Road Community choir is open to all in the local community. We are a mixed, non-audition choir. All songs are taught by ear and we don’t expect anyone to learn the words off by heart. However, Music can be made available for those who want it. We sing a range of different songs, including pop, gospel, world Music and classical. We mainly sing songs with piano accompaniment, provided by our famous pianist, Geoff. We hold our own annual concert, and we are often invited to sing at other local events such as the local MayFest. Our members come along for “enjoyment, friendship and satisfaction as well as singing with a group of like-minded people”. Singing is reputed to release endorphins in the brain, and we’ve certainly noticed amongst us a sense of well-being following rehearsals and in particular, concerts. We are a very sociable bunch and often meet for a drink at the Chimp House on Gloucester Road following our rehearsal on Thursday evenings.
