Integrates more than twenty young people between fourteen and eighteen years of age who have, in Music, a common denominator. Intends to continue developing their vocal talent, working a varied repertoire in multiple languages, styles, and four mixed voices (SATB) a cappella or in collaboration with instrumental ensembles. Has the support of the Instituto Politecnico de Castelo Branco, through the provision of space for rehearsals, on Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas de Castelo Branco (ESART). Fifteen days after its formation, the band was invited to participate in the IX Spring Concert (Covilha), with the theme "East and West", taking place on March 15, 2015. He accepted with great pleasure and it turned out a great way for bringing a greater responsibility to the original project.  less

In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. We make numerous cathedral visits throughout the year, but also offer occasional sung services to smaller churches without a choir. We also offer fundraising concerts for charities, building appeals, etc. and are available to hire for weddings, funerals and other occasions.

The choir welcomes new members at the...  moreThe Gettin’ Higher Choir seeks to embrace and celebrate humanity’s highest aspirations through Music, welcoming people of all ages and cultures. We are not associated with any particular religion or spiritual path. The choir welcomes new members at the beginning of each season in September and February. There is no audition, and no vocal experience is required, just a desire to sing in harmony with others. Our aim is to re-integrate singing into the daily routines of life. We sing for the pure joy and pleasure it gives us, in an atmosphere that is fun, relaxed, and accepting. Our repertoire consists of both traditional and new songs from many cultures. The majority are sung a cappella (unaccompanied) in 4-part harmony. The choir is divided into three chapters, each practicing the same material on either Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
