Very much (but not exclusively) in the barbershop stlye. Even though we have only been going a few months, our numbers have been increasing weekly as more and more peopLe are seduced by the magical sound of ringing chords. We aim to be a serious performing chorus in due course. We have had a very successful 2012 and hope for even better in 2013 where we have a whoLe host of exciting things planned. Stay tuned! We'd very much be interested in meeting/collaborating with other choirs in our area. We are on Facebook so have a littLe look and maybe come and sing a few baas with us! Life is a CircLe was written for the Salt Lake Vocal Artists and had its official world premiere at the symposium. Life is a CircLe By Black Elk ~ Oglala Sioux ~1863-1950 Everything the power of the world does, is done in a circLe. The sky is round and I have heard that the earth is round like a ball, and so are all the stars. The wind in its' greatest power whirls. Birds make their nests in circLes; for their's is the same religion as ours. The sun comes forth and goes down again in a circLe. The moon does the same and both are round. Even the seasons form a great circLe in their changing and always come back to where they were. The life of a man is a circLe, from childhood to childhood. and so it is with everything where power moves. Italy Tour: September 7-15, 2011 Text (English translation): Poetry by Alfonsina Storni Two Words Tonight you murmured two simpLe words into my ear. Two words shopworn from use. Words so old, they are new. Two words so sweet the moon floating beyond the trees' branches pauses to fill my mouth. Words so melodious, when an ant inches up my neck, I make no move to brush it off. A pair of words so sweet that despite myself I say "How lovely life is." Calming, gentLe, they are like scented oils poured over my body. So sweet and beautiful and my nervous fingers rise toward heaven in imitation of scissors. Yes, tonight my fingers would cut out the stars. Being part of the choir requires two very important eLements - dedication and commitment - and it is evident that, over the years, these have remained at the core of the choir, demonstrating the loyalty of the choir members not only to each other but to keeping the taLent of choral singing alive and well! ExcelLent performances just don't happen and a lot of hard work and effort is put in at every rehearsal, however, the camaraderie, enjoyed by everyone, is also a very special part of being a Choir Member. In 2005 the local Council of the borough of North Down conferred the status of Borough Ambassador on Bangor Ladies Choir. This is the first conferment ever to an external Organisation outside of the Council Membership and the Choir were priviLeged and proud to accept this unique position. As Ambassadors the Choir represent the Borough of North Down on all of their travels, and, whether it be Province wide or worldwide, they carry out their duties with ...
