The Winelands Chamber Choir is a fledgling chamber Choir based in the Western Cape Winelands District of South Africa, formed in 2010 out of our passion for choral Music, ranging from classical to contemporary.

In November 2013 the London Oriana Choir celebrated its 40th birthday. We had some scrumptious cake and sang an impromptu arrangement of the old favourite. Stay tuned for our gala 40th anniversary concert early next year!

We also undertake occasional Cathedral visits throughout the year. As you'd expect, there's a lot of focus on the Music of the English Choral Tradition, but we also explore European and American repertoire too.

Today, the group is composed of male choristers from different backgrounds: most of whom have contributed significantly to the growth of the Ateneo choral community. ALERON, being an all-male ensemble, is geared towards exploring the male choral soundscape. Through innovative programming and the performance of repertoire across Musical styles and genres, the group aims to deliver to its audiences a diverse and unique choral experience. ALERON envisions to broaden the all-male choral genre by continuously premiering new works of select resident composers and arrangers throughout its concert seasons. ALERON has recently been making waves in the Philippine choral scene, most notably with its First Prize distinction in the Vocal Ensemble Category of the 1st Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival, Manila in August 2013, serving as the gro...    less

But the repertoire is also based in traditional and popular Music in different languages. We have participated in choral meetings with some composers like Javier Busto, Julio Dominguez and Josu Elberdin. In Europe, Canta Compaña offered his Music in Poland, France, Netherlands, England and Scotland. Krakow, Edinburgh or Canterbury were some of the cities where the concerts were held. We love meetings with other Choirs and exchanges.

This song was written by Ralph Schmitt who (amongst other things) leads the Rodean Girls School Choir (Johannesburg). We had the pleasure of learning this from them at a workshop before a joint concert in 2010. If you hunt YouTube you can find several clips of them performing it magnificently. Great Choir, Great tune. Thanks Ralph! Opening Trio, Ali Orbaum, Sarah Pennington & Sam Burns
