During this time The choir has achieved success on many levels: Locally They have received 10 golden diplomas on provincial level for The “ATKV Applous” competition in The category for advanced, mixed high school choirs; and 7 golden diplomas on national level for The same competition. They were The only choir in The history of The Director’s trophy who won The award 8 times and They were also The first to do so in all three categories: mixed- (5 times), boys’- (twice) and girls’ choir (once). They have also received double gold at The Gauteng Eisteddfod, A and A+ awards at The Pretoria Beeld Eisteddfod and first place in Their category in more than one local competition. They have annual workshops and master classes with well-known and respected conductors (both locally and internationally) and have hosted many international choirs and groups. The Sierra Boys Choir is The new revival of The Sierra Boys Choir in The 1970s, which was active in The Reno/Sparks/Carson City area and directed by Stan Burke. When Mr. Burke joined The Mario Singers and left to move to Long Beach, CA, The choir was disbanded and a hole was left in The local arts and culture scene. The revival of The choir is a project (and passion) of Nathan Lundholm. Our goal is to provide musical and artistic opportunities to The boys while teaching Them to be generous and thankful members of The local and global community. Our aim is to be fun and entertaining on many levels, from practices to shows, even to social events on The town. We put all volunteers through a background check, and we ask some degree of participation from parents. The Sierra Boys Choir is a 501c3 non-profit corp.
