Paralia is a touristic seaside village situated on the west coast of the Thermaic Gulf and in the shadow of Olympus. The Festival has two parts: competitive and non-competitive. However, the character and the main concept of both parts is joining Music, vacation, friendship and fun. The idea of the Festival is to bring the Music closer to the people and to present the Music on the streets and the squares of Paralia, Olympic Beach and Katerini. All Choir ensembles, regardless of the members’ gender and age can apply for participation at the Festival. GENERAL CONDITIONS All Choir ensembles may join one part of the Festival: Competitive or Non-competitive.  less

Since its founding, the Choir has had about 80 active members who enjoy the lively nature of Gosp...  moreThe Gospel Choir 'Rejoice' from Langenberg, Germany, was founded in 1996 by the organist and Choirmaster Roland Orthaus, who still conducts the Choir today. Since its founding, the Choir has had about 80 active members who enjoy the lively nature of Gospel Music and who are inspired by the message of Gospels and Spirituals. The Choir sings this style of Music in all its forms, ranging from simple three or four part all male/female vocal arrangements, to four part Mixed arrangements. As well, they also perform more complex eight or ten part scores featuring solo parts which are sung by soloists from the Choir. Due to active co-operation with various youth organisations, this Choir consists of many different generations who all get on well with one and other. The Choir is accompanied by the 'Rejoice Band' which is comprised of piano, drums, an electric bass, and additional instruments when required. Since its foundation, the Choir is in continuous improvement and has been involved in many workshops with Prof.Mustafa Apaydın which were organized twice a year. The Choir has a Mixed membership including Music teachers, Musicians and amateur Choir singers. The Choir’s name is inspired by the famous story written by William Shakespeare and Guiseppe Verdi’s famous opera called Othello and the Othello Castle which is located in the city of Famagusta. The city where the Choir is based is known as “Othello’s City Famagusta” all around the world. The "family" also includes older levels, a treble chamber Choir, a Mixed young adult chorus, and a community adult chorus. The Junior and Intermediate Training Choirs (JTC and ITC) provide a program of sequentially developed skills which prepare choristers for admission into the Surrey Children's Choir. The training Choirs perform annually at the Family Christmas Concert and Year End concert (held in May of each year). They also often compete at the Fraser Valley Kiwanis Music Festival, always with great results. The training Choirs may also perform at various events in the community.
