On our first birthday, we won the Acappella/barbershop class at the 2011 International Eisteddfod in Wales, and we have earned many awards and recognitions to date in varous competitions. Under the direction of the exceptionally talented Mr Andrew Walker and his music team of award winning vocalists Affinity embraces educational aims, and encourages personal development in singing and performance. Affinity are always happy to hear from potential bookings, and welcome new members to audition for the Choir, we are a fun loving group of women who share the joys of singing, we employ strong values of team work, friendship and support. This is thanks to the work of Knut Nystedt (b....  moreThroughout its existence the chamber Choir Schola Cantorum has had high ambitions. The Choir has built an international reputation and has made it a trademark to include newly written music in its programmes. This is thanks to the work of Knut Nystedt (b. 1915), organist, composer and conductor, who returned to Norway in 1964 after studying in the USA and started a Choir at the music department of the University of Oslo. The Choir continues to recruit members from the department of music, as well as from the Norwegian Academy of Music in more recent years. The American choral tradition in which Nystedt was trained emphasises the importance of new music – a practice Nystedt brought back with him to Oslo. Knut Nystedt’s music became a vital element of Schola Cantorum’s repertoire. Tone Bianca Sparre Dahl became conductor in 2002, and has further established the Choir’s firm position in Norway’s musical life. She has continued Nystedt’s tradition of performing modern music.
