Arvo Pärt – Passio
St. Paul's Chapel, New York City
Trinity Wall Street
This concert featured iconic works of two of the most compelling and influential composers of the 20th century: Arvo Pärt and Francis Poulenc. The monumental work Passio by Arvo Pärt is a meditative setting of texts from the Passion according to St. John and is considered as the apotheosis of his writing. So don't lose heart, let's make a start, let's make our art.
We're here to stay, we're here to say we'll play our part.
We stay afar and we can't see the ending; the future's still unknown.
We still stay strong separated in space; not in spirit, not in song.
Though we're apart from everyone, we are a part of everything,
and every day everyone in different ways and places is facing this difficult phase.
So don't lose hea... less

All members of QVE, the singers range in disciplines from Music to Engineering to the Arts.
Afterglow performs frequently throughout St. John’s, including being featured guests on CBC Radio, local television, Festival 500, as well as community concerts and fundraisers. The group writes their own arrangements and began presenting full concerts last spring.
Afterglow was one of 11 groups selected world-wide to partake in the Small Vocal Ensembles component of international biennial Festival 500 in July 2011. This will include masterclasses and individual coaching sessions with Bob Chilcott and Finnish group, Rajaton. As a result of their acceptance, the group was awarded a substantial Professional Project Grant from the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council. Afterglow ... less
