Kyrie - Une heure ou deux me restent dans ce bruit sonore que tu es ... soprano and alto solos (distant and present voices) with guitar accompaniment 2. Un dernier regard car la fenêtre ouverte que tu es se clôt....soprano (still singing Kyrie) and alto with guitar accompaniment 3. Alone we are together in this place - two alto recorders and guitar with spoken voice 4. He makes men pure from their sins (words by St Paul) - two equal voices with guitar chord names 5. Kyrie eleison and Christe eleison (sung in the distance) 6. Amidst grey working days - alto and guitar 7. The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay, The little lord Jesus asleep on the hay. The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes, But little lord Jesus no crying he makes. I love thee, lord Jesus! Look down from the sky, and stay by my side until morning is nigh. Be near me, lord Jesus; I ask thee to stay Close by me for ever and love me, I pray. Bless all the dear children in thy tender care, and fit us for heaven to live with thee there.  less

PROGRAM NOTES: “I breathed a song into the air, it fell to earth I knew not where.” Ten years ago, I wrote a composition called Always Keep This Close with little idea of where it would go or what it would come to mean for others. To find that song living in the hearts of other musicians is both humbling and surprising. For me, it’s a reminder of how powerful our actions and words can be. Something that feels insignificant to one person can be life-changing to another. While creating The Heart of a Friend, I knew from the start that I wanted to shape a melodic arc that captured the trajectory of both the arrow and the song. I felt strongly that the first two stanzas needed to end at a high point, preserving the uncertainty of where each might land. Only in the third stanza does the melody turn downward, revealing the rest of its path. I then combine these two halves to symbolically represent reflection—looking back on an action and seeing the journe...    less

How I wrote the composition Hope to process a miscarriage, or how I wrote I Will Lift My Eyes at a Time when multiple family members, both young and old, were being diagnosed with cancer. No matter life’s challenges, music has always been an outlet for me to cope and heal. It has helped me to persevere and fight through some of life's most difficult moments, ulTimately making me a stronger person. The world can be a challenging place, but each of us are warriors—armed with the gift to sing, and filled with the fire, passion, drive, and grit to conquer anything.
