Since 1998, this successful and renowned choir has been directed by Matthias Beckert, Conductor and lecturer in choral conducting at the University of Music Würzburg. Based on its top-class choral performances, the Monteverdi Choir Würzburg has been highly praised both in professional circles and by the media. The Monteverdi Choir Würzburg has developed a wide concert repertoire, including major oratorio works from the Renaissance up until the present day. The choir’s performance and versatility is proven through its participation in numerous Würzburg premieres and reputable concerts with period instruments. Performing with an ensemble of 10 singers and no Conductor, Chicago a cappella is recognized as one of the area’s most accomplished vocal ensembles. Under the direction of artistic director John William Trotter, the group spans a repertoire from Gregorian chant to the Beatles and beyond and is known for its performances of sacred works, vocal jazz and pop, folk and international music, as well as a special focus on music written in the present generation. Since its founding in 1993, the ensemble has introduced dozens of works to Chicago audiences for the First time, including commissioned works by Chen Yi, Stacy Garrop, and Tania León. In the near future the choir plans a Christmas concert (22-12-2012) at the Rondo Histriae Concert Hall in Pula. There will be a variety of seasonal classical and popular evergreens.
