Hold On
arr. Moses Hogan (1957-2003)
Spiritual
Moses Hogan was an internationally renowned pianist, composer and arranger of choral music best known for his arrangements of spirituals. He studied with a full scholarship at Oberlin Conservatory of Music before continuing with his graduate studies at Julliard School of Music. He won several piano competitions during his performance years and published many CD's as well as songbooks. 'Hold On!' is an example of his 'soloist vs Choir' style of spiritual arrangements. There is a solo throughout that sings the primary lyrics and message of the song while the rest of the Choir provides a lively and energetic - often rhythmic - accompaniment. He uses the Choir as a single instrum... less

The Requiem is written in memory of my aunt, my mother's sister, Bożena Łanowska (pictured on the programme cover). She was my first piano teacher. For ten years she taught me, starting when I was four, and I believe that all I am now as a pianist I owe to her amazing approach, talent, hard work, unbelievable patience and love. Dur... less
