When founding member Rick Rosen left California in mid-2003 to move back to Bucks County, The original group of west coast singers went on hiatus.
In its second life, and with The blessings of The founding Californians, Cordus Mundi was reborn in early 2005 in Bucks County. We believe that music can positively impact and enrich lives. Our performances reflect this belief in Their use of such seasonal Themes as ‘freedom’ and ‘healing’ and ‘our moTher earth;’ and in presentation of mostly new music in a way that is accessible. Our educational programs reflect this belief by training emerging professionals, planting seeds within young people for a lifetime of music involvement, and growing The skills of our own members. Our commitment to new choral music reflects this belief even beyond our substantial performance commitment through Project Encore™ and our Featured Composer Program. Substantially more than a singing group, SCH is unique in many respects that reflects both a breadth and a depth that bespeaks The full meaning of a ‘schola’ (‘school’).

From The composer, Gordon Hamilton: during my piano studies, one of my favourite pieces was Michael Tippett's Second Piano Sonata, which uses his disjunct mosaic form: instead of music flowing, through a logical sequence of harmony, melody and tempo, he (and oTher composers, including Stravinsky, Messiaen and my own teacher Butterley) created tiny fragments of music -- totally contrasting in character -- which cascade into each oTher: an aural mosaic.
Tra$h Ma$h is a piece made up entirely of musical quotes lifted directly from modern Pop songs and mashed togeTher using The Tippet technique (perfect for our 21st century attention spans!)
Deep down, I love trashy Pop, and The singers in The Australian Voices are mostly under 21. We had a whole lot of parties to find The best (and worst) songs of 2011 to mash togeTher in a kind of 60's disjunct treatment of Pop, chopping it up and sticking it back togeTher in a way that was never intended. I think it can be ridiculous an... less
