TAIKA (magic, charm, hex and conjuration) Choir was founded in 2012 by its conductor master of music Karla-Maria Toiviainen. In a short time the choir has achieved a valuable role in the Finnish community in The Netherlands. TAIKA practices in The Hagu...  moreTAIKA (magic, charm, hex and conjuration) Choir was founded in 2012 by its conductor master of music Karla-Maria Toiviainen. In a short time the choir has achieved a valuable role in the Finnish community in The Netherlands. TAIKA practices in The Hague. The choir has a wide repertoire, ranging from folk to pop, with an emphasis on Finnish female choral music. However, the choir enthusiastically performs songs from all around the world. The choir performs in a wide range of events hosted by businesses and organisations. In the spring of 2015 the choir was performing for the first time abroad - in Finland. Summer 2017 choir was in Verona, Italy, taking a part of an international choir festival.  less

Since 2012 the group has been performed multiple concerts including a performance on the MPR stage at the Minnesota State Fair, The Schubert Club featuring music by Minnesota composer Edie Hill, and featured on MPR's Regional Spotlight. We rehearsed for most of the day in ...  moreOn 24th November 2012 we brought together 98 singers and four choral directors for our most ambitious project to date: a choral workshop on Thomas Tallis' monumental 40-part motet, 'Spem in Alium', composed in 1570. We rehearsed for most of the day in two-choir sections, with our four choral directors, Scott Inglis-Kidger, Sarah Tenant-Flowers, Riccardo Bonci and Jonny Davies. After lunch we began to put the sections together. At 4pm we brought all 8 choirs together and Scott Inglis-Kidger led a most thrilling final performance.
