The Choir presents liturgical music either written in, or translated to, the Hebrew language. In the few years of the Choir's existence Liturgi-Kal is rapidly becoming much more visible on the Israeli music scene due to its emphasis on excellence coupled with the superb choice of musical partners. The Choir has worked with the Israeli Chamber orchestra, the Ensemble Barrocade and has had the honor of hosting some of Israel’s finest young Singers as well as special guests from abroad.  less

Harpsichordist, organist and visionary Choirmaster George Malcolm was one of the leading figures in British music after the Second World War. In his early life he had been Organ Scholar of Balliol College and Choirmaster of St Mary’s, Clapham. His work at Westminster Cathedral as Master of Music for twelve years from 1947 was the stuff of legend. The Sierra Boys Choir is the new revival of the Sierra Boys Choir in the 1970s, which was active in the Reno/Sparks/Carson City area and directed by Stan Burke. When Mr. Burke joined the Mario Singers and left to move to Long Beach, CA, the Choir was disbanded and a hole was left in the local arts and culture scene. The revival of the Choir is a project (and passion) of Nathan Lundholm. Our goal is to provide musical and artistic opportunities to the boys while teaching them to be generous and thankful members of the local and global community. Our aim is to be fun and entertaining on many levels, from practices to shows, even to social events on the town. We put all volunteers through a background check, and we ask some degree of participation from parents. The Sierra Boys Choir is a 501c3 non-profit corp. The score is at once rhythmic and exciting, haunting and unsettling. It was a winner of the 2018 Uncommon Music Festival Composition Competition. It is accessible for all fine high school, collegiate and community choral ensembles. Performers are encouraged to present this work in a more dramatic fashion than usual, “within (or surrounding) the audience.” 2018 Winner of the Uncommon Music Festival Composition Award & premiere in Sitka, Alaska, summer 2018.  less
