This group is made up of 10 Singers and performers all under the age of 25, giving VanDeca a youthful and fresh take on every genre, from classical to pop, musical theatre to jazz, and everything in between! Each singer in VanDeca comes from a different musical background, shaping who we are as a group. Having only been in existence since November of 2011, this group has big plans to shape the face of choral music in Vancouver, encouraging our audience to feel connected with our performances through multi-genre pieces, and using movement and amazing sound to inspire others to become involved with their local choral groups.  less

The choir is directed by Dr Simon Lindley, its Music Director, and the organist is David Houlder. The verse soloists are Lucy Appleyard (alto), Toby Ward (tenor) and Philip Wilcox (bass). Each composer set verses for his or her own star sign. Leo was premiered by The Esoterics on December 7, 8, 14 & 15, 2002, in concerts in Tacoma, Mercer Island and Seattle, Washington. The piece was named as a Finalist in 2007 Cincinnati Camerata Composition Competition, and is a Project Encore selection.
