This intercultural choir comprises fifteen amateur singers from several african... moreTwenty years after showing its marvelous performances on stage, the Biayenda Choir of Dakar was able to build its own réputation as one of the most committed choir in Senegal. This intercultural choir comprises fifteen amateur singers from several african countries.
It was first establishments in 1996 in Dakar by a group of youth who adored the art of singing. The choir consistently performed varions type of music, gathering between both classical and modern music (folklore and international). It transcended continents, surpassed réas and diversified its origins from spiritual music, through romantic, to religious and reaching comic music, with a tendency towards african melodies and rythms. It urges us to re-discover and unveil the musical treasures of african continent that dates back to ancestors and to the native people of the Black continent.
On the stage, the Choir collaborated with famous conductors such as Michel Piquemal with Choeur Vittoria (Île de France)de Paris or Dr Intessar Abdel Fattah, Egyptian drummer musicologist, and with senegalese artists such as Coumba Gawlo Seck, Metzo Djatah and Yoro Ndiaye.
Often present in major local events, such as the "Fête de la musique" in 2016, Biayenda Choir took part in the Meeting Point of Religion international Festival for Peace "Together We pray" in Sharm El Sheikh in 2015, and more recently, in worldwide choral initiatives such as "One day, One Choir" celebrating "International Peace Day" and "EARTHCHOIR 2016" for nature protection.
Since its inception, Biayenda Choir is committed in Peace building with partnership of UNOWAS and "Women and youth Network for Peace and Security in Senegal". Celebrating 20th anniversary, the choir is starting out a tour in Senegal and around the world forming part of its "Peace caravan".
