Within the choir there are acting two ensembles: children’s choir «Brevis» (vocalists from 13 to 18 years of age) and a Vocal ensemble «Brevis» (girls choir - vocalist from 18 to 30 years of age). All of the vocalists started their «internship in singing» with well-known children’s choir of Osijek, i.e. «Osječki zumbići» (Tiny mosquitoes of Osijek).
Up-to-now, the choir had a series of successful performances throughout the territory of Croatia - in Osijek, Zagreb, Split, Varaždin, Šibenik and also abroad - in Orašje (Bosnia & Herzegovina), Budapest, Pecs (Hungary), Athens (Greece), Salzburg, Graz, Klagenfurt, Villach, Wienna (Austria), Pforzheim, Munich, Düseldorf, Speyer, Sindelfingen, Mosbach (Germany), Helsingborg (Sweden),Xiamen (China), USA (New York), Canada, (Montreal, Toronto), Bulgaria (Varna), Poland (Poznan).
The repertoire of the choir contains Croatian and world works of choir music composers, from baroque masters to modern composers. The choir nourishes soul and secular music with the same extense.
Vocal ensemble «Brevis» recorded two sound tracks «Tri djevojke žito žele» (Three girls wheat harvested), compiling original folk songs of Croatia, and The best croatian choral pieces for female voices.
Members of the «Brevis» choir are taking place in operas too, with the Croatian National Theatre Osijek (at present in operas «Carmen» and «Tosca» and in «Mali dimnjačar»/Little chimney sweeper/).
The choir was granted quite a few precious awards:
From 1997 to 2003 On National Contest of Choirs called «Music Festivities of Croatian Youth in Varaždin»Vocal ensemble “Brevis” won 6 gold plague and first place in category for girls choirs
In the year 2004, on the World Choir Contest in Sweden «Helsingborgschoir Festival» in the category of young ladies choirs, Vocal ensemble «Brevis» won gold plague and first place.
In the year 2005. on the International Contest of Chamber Choirs in Pecs (Hungary) in female choirs category – Vocal ensemble „Brevis“ won silver plaque and first place
In the year 2006. on the 4th World Choir Games Xiamen (China) in youth choirs of eaquel voices category Vocal ensemble won golden medal. In the year 2014. on the 35th International choral competition in Varna, Bulgaria Brevis won 1st prize and golden medal in female choirs category.
Vocal enesemble Brevis is most proud of their performance in Carnegie Hall (new York, USA) in 2013 when they presented croatian choral heritage to american audience.
From its very beginning, the choir is conducted by Prof. Antoaneta Radočaj-Jerković, professor, accompanied by a piano player Mr. Davor Dedić, professor.
The «Brevis» choir is being gradually enriching a music life of Osijek, but in other areas, where it appears, too. By its youthfulness, charm, and its artistic qualities at first place, this choir is plundering the attention of audience and critics. less - Additional names: Vokalni ansambl Brevis
