Choral Society's Tribute to Norma Henfrey
Witham Choral Society has chosen a work by J S Bach, his deeply moving St John Passion, for its concert in memory of Norma Henfrey on Saturday 31March at 7.00 p.m. at St Peter ad Vincula Church in Coggeshall.
"Norma was a loyal supporter of the Choral Society for many years,"explained Chairman, Chris Heron, "and she very generously left us a legacy. We felt the very splendid St John Passion would be a fitting tribute to her."
Witham Choral is a vigorous and thriving society," said member Clare Lager. "In addition to our concerts we run regular coach trips to the Barbican and Festival Hall and these were much enjoyed by Norma and her friends."
Following her very successful appearance with the Society last year, soprano Catherine Pope will be joined by husband and wife Daniel Joy (tenor) and Kate Symonds-Joy (mezzo-soprano), Richard Fallas (bass), Tom Stoddart (bass) with the Colchester Bach Orchestra, under the experienced baton of Patrick McCarthy to perform Bach’s beautiful setting of the Easter story.
Tickets: £10 in advance or £12 on the door, £3 full-time education at Florum in Coggeshall, Witham Information Centre or telephone 01376 515532. www.withamchoralsociety.org.uk
