Kids Choir Offers Scholarships

  • The Major Minors Children's Choir, in New Zealand, is an all-comers kids choir for children aged 4-12 who love to sing and we are looking for new members. There is no need to audition to join the choir which starts again on Sunday 1 February.

The award winning choir sings all types of music, with performances at their own concerts and many Upper Hutt events. Last year the choir won the Arts and Culture Category (Upper Hutt) in the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards. They are also the current holders of the Challenge Cup  awarded to the winner of the Under 18 Choir Category of the Hutt Valley Performing Arts Competition, held in July each year.

The choir, a member of the New Zealand Choral Federation, is run voluntarily by qualified musicians - Musical Director Joanne Roelofs and pianist Karen Boyce who have lots of experience working with singers. Rehearsals are for an hour on Sundays at 3pm.

This year the choir is pleased to be able to offer the opportunity of five scholarships to children who love to sing and are keen to join our choir, but whose families might be experiencing financial hardship. The scholarship will cover their fees and a choir t-shirt for one year.

For more details about the choir and how to invlove your kids (including applying online for the scholarships ) please check out the choir's website http://majorminors.instantencore.com/web/home.aspx
